"Birth of the Monad"

In Greek philosophy, a monad is a fundamental unit or indivisible thing. The Pythagoreans believed the monad was the supreme being, divinity, or the totality of all things. In Plato's Dialogues, the plural "monades" is used as a synonym for Ideas. In Aristotle's Metaphysics, the monad is the principle of number. In Gnostic systems, the monad is the supreme being, also known as the One, the Absolute, and the Primal Father.
